Frequently Asked Questions
The following are answers to some commonly asked questions about our mail-order services for correctional facilities:
- Question:
- How can you service our facility's special needs?
- Answer:
- Since 1983, we have been providing pharmacy services to correctional facilities and have developed a cost effective, time saving system which is flexible to meet your facility's special needs. Prior to starting services, we review your medication room and discuss the required needs of your nursing staff. We will tailor our procedures and system to best suit your facility. We strive to work along with your staff as a team to provide the best pharmaceutical care to your inmates at the most competitive price.
- Question:
- When we place an order for medications, when will we receive them?
- Answer:
- All medication orders placed by 6:00 PM EST will be shipped directly to your facility for next day air delivery by 10:30 in most areas. This includes Saturday and Sunday delivery, where available.
- Question:
- What if we need something in an emergency?
- Answer:
- Prior to start up, Diamond Pharmacy consults with your medical director to set up an extensive emergency drug kit and starter packs customized to your facility's needs. When an emergency item is ordered, it can be taken from the kit or packs. If an item is not available in the kit or packs, we will phone the order into a pre-arranged contracted local back-up pharmacy.
- Question:
- How do your prices compare?
- Answer:
- Our prices will surprise you. In most cases, our pricing is significantly less than other local and national pharmacy providers. We typically save most facilities from 20-45% of their total pharmacy and medical supply bill. In addition, we will work with your physician to develop and enforce a cost containing drug formulary to reduce costs even further.
- Question:
- What other services do you provide?
- Answer:
- We offer the following at no additional charge: a fax machine for ordering medications, peel-off labels for easy reordering, various types of drug packaging, prescription monitoring services, consultant pharmacist services 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, formulary management, numerous customized monthly reports, regulation enforcement, video library list of over 350 medical tapes, toll free phone and fax numbers, monthly newsletter, extensive policy and procedures manual, and friendly accurate service.
- Question:
- How can you provide all these services at such a low price?
- Answer:
- Our pharmacy is a licensed "closed pharmacy' which means we are not open for retail business to the general public. We are licensed to provide services to prisons, jails, nursing, and assisted living facilities. Because of this licensure and our large buying power, we are able to negotiate some of the best contract pricing in the industry. In addition, because we are closed to the public, we have our pharmacy specifically designed to meet the needs of servicing correctional facilities in a cost-effective manner. These price savings will be passed along directly to your facility.
- Question:
- Are there any hidden costs?
- Answer:
- There are no hidden costs. Your monthly statement reflects only your discounted pricing on pharmaceuticals and medical supplies. There is no charge for any services, forms, packaging, shipping, etc.
